Covenant of Rest

The year 2020 was a very challenging and tumultuous year. 2020 was pretty much a year of unprecedented losses for the vast majority of the world. A lot of people lost loved ones, sources of income, health, and well-being to name a few. By the privilege of God's amazing grace, we have entered 2021. Let us also enter into a covenant with God to seek Him with all our heart and all our soul that He may give us rest on all our sides in 2021.

If you Seek Him, You will Find Him

The bible says that ...The Spirit of God came on Azariah son of Oded. He went out to meet Asa and said to him, *“Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.* 2 Chronicles 15:1‭-‬2 NIV

Tip:

The proof of passion is pursuit. If we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. The key to entering the rest of God is seeking Him wholeheartedly. The Bible says that... They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and soul. All who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, were to be put to death, whether small or great, man or woman. They took an oath to the Lord with loud acclamation, with shouting and with trumpets and horns. All Judah rejoiced about the oath because they had sworn it wholeheartedly. They sought God eagerly, and He was found by them. So the Lord gave them rest on every side. 2 Chronicles 15:12‭-‬15 NIV

What we sow is what we reap. We cannot expect 2021 to be different if we do not conscientiously do the needful and be intentional about our pursuit of God.

We love Him because He first loved us. Today, joyfully set your heart towards Him. Desire His fellowship. Desire His love. Desire His Lordship. Let your heart be stirred by the Spirit of God to seek Him, to hunger and thirst for Him. To long for Him and pursue Him like you did the love of your life. No one who seeks God fails to find Him. In seeking, we are found. In longing, we express God's desire as God's longing for us evokes our own.

Action Items

Here is a list of what the Israelite did according to 2 Chronicles 15:1-15....

1. They removed all their idols

2. They repaired the altar of God

3. They assembled with the people of faith

4. They sacrificed their best to God

5. They entered into covenant with God to seek Him with all their heart and soul

6. They seale their covenant to seek God with an oath and rejoiced before the Lord

7. They sought God eagerly and wholeheartedly and He was found by them.

So the Lord gave them rest on every side.

The key to entering God's rest in 2021 is to be intentional about seeking God with all our hearts and all our soul and encouraging everyone within our circle and sphere of influence to do the same.

Be the beacon of light to all around you and the glory of the Lord will shine upon all starting with you.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. 2 Chronicles 16:9a NKJV.
