Bible Reading: Luke 12:41-48 NIV

Peter asked, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everyone?”  The Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time?  It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns.  Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.  But suppose the servant says to himself, ‘My master is taking a long time in coming,’ and he then begins to beat the other servants, both men, and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk.  The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.   “The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows.  But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.Luke 12:41‭-‬48 NIV

Discussion Question: Have you ever run a Marathon?

My apologies for sending this so late in the evening. Yesterday was very hectic for me and I couldn't get my thoughts straight from all the work I had to do. Exhausted, I retired to bed at about 1:45 AM. But I thank God for the privilege to write this now that I am back from work today. I will be brief because I actually have to write two today. One for today and one for tomorrow. So let's jump right into it.

Yesterday we compared the coming of Jesus to preparing and running a marathon. One of the most challenging things about marathons is the amount of time you put into preparation and training, and the sheer distance of the run.

I know this is probably not the first reference of the scripture you have come across that speaks about the Lord coming soon. Put pay close attention to what Jesus underscored and emphasized in today's reading  - Time.

Jesus knows many will be unprepared because of the fact that it has indeed taken a very long time and we are still expecting Him. Yes, that's so true, but it is also true that a day is like a thousand years to God and a thousand years like a day. Let us remember that He is the God that does not dwell in the time He created. His dwelling is in unapproachable light, the ever present now.

While we are waiting, let's use this opportunity to get extra oil for our lamps. The level of oil in your lamp will make all the difference and determine if you would make it into the banquet dinner of the Lamb of God or if the door will be shut against  you. If there isn't enough oil in your lamp, you will not have light to even see the path that leads to the wedding banquet door. The bible says in Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." In other words, the word of God is our guide and map and will give us Illumination to see the path and walk in it. The oil symbolizes the Holy Spirit of God. If you are not filled with the Holy Spirit which makes the Word of God flesh in you, how can you abide in Christ. The anointing usually does two things to a person among other things:

1) The Spirit of God sets you apart as holy and dedicated to the Lord,

2) The Spirit of God confers authority on you to live a victorious christian life while guiding you daily on the path of righteousness.

While Jesus tarries, let us go get extra oil before nightfall when no man can neither sell nor buy.

I bet you can tell that I'm really tired today. I'm sorry.

Stay uplifted in Christ always and live Cheerfully everyday
